I wouldn’t want one anywhere near my electric bills, tyvmImported · Reddit
Yeah I was going to say this. I just finished watching a video on how the extra electric costs tend to get pushed onto regular people's energy bills. And the water that they need to cool the Nvidia chips get polluted as well. Doesn't sound like a good thing but I don't know all the details.Imported · Reddit
There is an entire budding industry of modular nuclear plants and the end goal of these companies is to solve this problem. Imagine a data center sets up a well staffed small scale reactor right next door - They can create their own energy and bring all that sweet AI money to anywhere in the country.Imported · Reddit · Excerpt · Originally replying to u/_doobious
What a god-awful idea. CACWNY went through the process of getting ideas of what residents actually wanted and a data center was definitely not on the list.Imported · Reddit
As a former datacenter tech, I can tell you that there are already a lot of smaller datacenters scattered across Buffalo. And while it seems big and scary to have these massive datacenters pop up, you actually do get a lot more efficiency when you can consolidate them. Both in terms of power, and of cooling.Imported · Reddit · Excerpt

I'd say I'm pro-datacenter, as long as they're being charged a fair amount for the eletricity they consume.
There goes your electric bills, unless residents are successful in blocking itImported · Reddit
We are fighting a proposed one in my small town in Chautauqua County. If this hasn't been approved, start mobilizing now. Get a group together and seek legal council.Imported · Reddit
In doing research I came across a letter from the Niagara County legislature to the state asking it to NOT enact a moratorium on data centers (there are currently two proposals in the state legislature) so you may have an uphill battle.
Hi there, is this a letter you are able to share with me? Very interested in looking into this further. Thank you.Imported · Reddit
